Controller/Assistant Controller

Our Controller position is responsible for the accounting, finance operations, and related controls of the company. The ideal candidate will have a track record for progressively increasing job responsibilities and may currently hold a senior-level Accountant or an Assistant Controller role today, and will have a strong desire to continue to increase their role and job scope steadily over time. In this role, you will primarily manage and successfully facilitate monthly financial reports, accounting records, controls and budgets for multiple subsidiaries, and ensure reporting results comply with GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards. This role manages a team of seven and will provide oversight of foreign accounting professionals for our multiple global subsidiaries.  The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day accounting and cost accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash & Risk Management, Fixed Assets, and Tax Filings
  • Indirectly oversee the accounting operations of international subsidiary companies, and ensure adherence to monthly financial reporting needs 
  • Maintain and update accounting control systems, transaction-processing operations, and associated policies and procedures
  • Prepare US and consolidated monthly financial reports and present to Senior Leadership and Executive Teams
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Manage the production and consolidation of all subsidiary annual budgets and forecasts
  • Develop dashboards to report variances from budgets/forecasts and report significant issues to Executive Team
  • Coordinate and lead external audits for annual review
  • Comply with local, state, federal, and international government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Manage annual capital investments as determined in the annual budgetary process
  • Support customer contract negotiations with payment terms, contractual terms, and limiting liability
  • Manage and analyze general ledger accounts and ensure accounting team maintains monthly account reconciliations
  • Manage monthly financial reporting for multiple real estate entities
  • Contribute to the overall management of the company, including areas of strategic planning
  • Special assignments as required for the successful function of the accounting team

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA or MBA desired
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and/or public accounting with international exposure
  • Strong cost accounting and experience with Percentage of Completion revenue recognition
  • Experience with an advanced ERP system, such as Epicor, Visual, or SAP Business One
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Self-motivated to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Great communication skills
  • High ethical standards with a positive attitude and strong enthusiasm
  • Desire to learn and thrive in a fast paced growing environment

Position is located in a mixed office and manufacturing environment, and may involve physical activity such as bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and sitting for long periods of time.
