Tool Room Machinist – Maintenance (Afternoon Shift)

Standard work schedule is four - 10 hour days (Monday-Thursday 3:30pm - 2:00am)

Primary Function:

  • Machine part details to print and support shop tooling/fixture needs.
  • Setup and operate a manual mill, lathe and surface grinder.
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics, able to read and follow blueprints.
  • Familiar with micrometers, calipers, height gauge and indicators.
  • Work with minimum supervision upon completion of training.
  • Able to follow instructions, listen and communicate clearly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Capable for standing long periods of time.
  • Adapt to change as required – willing to cross-train in other departments.
  • Work safely and use all available safety equipment.  Follow company policies and procedures.


  • Support facility operations through preventative maintenance and repair of critical systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment.
  • Mechanical skills and aptitude to identify and make necessary repairs including light fabrication.
  • Read, understand, and utilize electrical & hydraulic schematic drawings to diagnose/troubleshoot and repair circuits.
  • Communicate with external contractors and ensure outsourced work is identified, and quoted and delivered as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3-5 years relevant technical field experience, or an Associate’s degree or certification in a technical field with 1-2 years work experience.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate within a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills.  Programing M&G code a plus.
  • Able to maintain a good attendance record.

Physical Requirements:

Position is located in a manufacturing environment, and will involve hands-on work with tools and equipment.  Physical activity will include lifting (up to 75lbs.), bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
