Field Service Technician

Currently we are looking for a Field Service Technician.  This position is located at our Plymouth, MI location.

Core Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Perform initial checkout and startup of industrial test equipment
  • Perform functional checkout and specification verification of equipment
  • Troubleshoot a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical/hydraulic systems
  • Perform equipment calibration to ISO17025 standards
  • Troubleshoot and perform equipment repairs
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Modify or update existing equipment
  • Complete required documentation in a timely and accurate manner
  • Correctly read various styles of electrical & hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
  • Work safely and use all available safety equipment
  • Local travel (approx. 20%)

Materials, Tools, and Equipment Used:

  • Personal Computer / Laptop
  • Digital multi-meter (AC & DC volts & current, resistance)
  • Oscilloscope, & Frequency generator & Frequency counter
  • Miscellaneous circuit board soldering and de-soldering tools
  • Miscellaneous hand tools and power tools
  • Miscellaneous NIST traceable calibration equipment (i.e. temperature, speed, force, pressure, stroke)

Basic Requirements:

  • 3 years of applicable work experience related to test equipment or industrial electronics
  • Must have valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, passport and reliable transportation
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic principals
  • 1 year of experience reading various styles of electrical & hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
  • Ability to learn the fundamentals of relay logic control systems, PLC control systems, signal conditioning requirements of various transducers, AC and DC drive control systems, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems and standards, various closed loop PID control systems and theories, failsafe design standards, National Electrical Code, how various transducers operate, various electro-mechanical devices
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, familiar with Windows XP, Windows 7
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills
  • Moderate level of soldering and de-soldering skills
  • Must have valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements:

  • Position is located in a manufacturing facility environment, and will involve hands-on work with tools and testing equipment.  Physical activity will include lifting (up to 50lbs.), bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity
