Software Controls Engineer

We are looking for a Software Controls Engineer who will design, implement and support computer based data acquisition and control systems for precision test equipment, also the internet worked control of such equipment. The Software Controls Engineer is part of a team that designs industrial test equipment, primarily for the transportation industries.  The Software Controls Engineer is involved in all phases of product life-cycle, from customer specifications and reviews to implementation and testing to training.

Core Responsibilities and Requirements: 

  • Review technical specifications for conformance and exceptions
  • Software development and test multiple environments, C, Delphi, Visual Studio .NET
  • Ability to listen to, understand and communicate information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences
  • Availability for occasional travel, both domestic and international
  • Offer creative and suitable solutions to design challenges or flaws
  • Assist Link Service Technicians and customers with technical issues


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Understanding of hardware and software designs
  • Interpersonal skills for working on a team and with customers
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office products skills including VBA
  • Experience with embedded systems or software based controls
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems and undergraduate level physics
  • Familiarity with CAN and Ethernet communication protocols

Physical Requirements:

  • Position is located in a mixed office and manufacturing environment, and may involve physical activity such as bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and sitting for long periods of time.
