Computer Science Intern/Co-op

We are looking for a Computer Science Engineering Intern/Co-op to work at our Dearborn Technical Center in Dearborn, Michigan. As a paid intern/co-op, you will be able to apply coursework concepts to real-world situations working alongside professional, experienced colleagues while also gaining valuable experience working for a global manufacturing and engineering company.

The qualified applicant will become part of the IT team and local LINK operations team and will work in various IT functions where he/she will interact with our Engineers, Test Technicians and a variety of support staff.

An intern/ co-op position with LINK is a chance to channel your drive and enthusiasm. It will be an experience that puts you front and center, allowing you to be hands-on and contributing your creative energy on high-impact projects. This position is not just a summer role, it is a non-seasonal role offering approximately 24-40 hours per week. 

Primary Function: Responsible for supporting the Information Technology Department

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site technical support for Detroit and Dearborn locations
  • Install, configure and image workstations and laptops
  • Perform routine maintenance on IT equipment
  • Perform routine data archiving
  • Assist in creating work instructions and procedures
  • Audit workstations, network equipment, and licensing
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a related CIS/MIS/IT degree program
  • 1 year of experience with computer and network troubleshooting skills
  • Strong proficiency in Windows, Linux, and Mac OS
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Basic knowledge of server, storage, hardware, network, software, application, database, or other technologies
  • Excellent oral communication, written communication, time-management and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly

Other:

  • Local travel between Detroit and Dearborn locations is required

Physical Requirements:

  • Position is located in a test facility environment, and will involve hands-on work with tools and computer equipment.  Physical activity will include lifting (up to 50lbs.), bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
