Purchasing Manager

Primary Function:  Responsible for managing sourcing and procurement of goods and services in support of Link manufacturing and testing facilities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategy for the company
  • Develop, track, and report on functional metrics for diversity, cost-effectiveness, and expense reduction
  • Manage and develop purchasing department processes
  • Perform cost analyses and identify potential supply opportunities and concerns through benchmarking, forecasting, and research
  • Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history
  • Develop supplier partnerships to create win-win relationships while improving LINK competitiveness for cost, quality, and delivery. 
  • Interview vendors and visit suppliers' plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services, and prices
  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes
  • Interface with project managers and work to maintain product gross margins relative to targeted profit goals and for the purpose of purchase order administration.
  • Promote the most effective use of company funds in the acquisition of assigned items at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, and specification requirements
  • Interface with suppliers on commercial aspects of quality and delivery issues.
  • Lead procurement activities per ERP directed buy-list and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of product in support of full kit.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business or Engineering
  • 7 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience purchasing for custom-build environment
  • Prior management experience
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with ERP software (Epicor preferred)
